We start the New Year with a home grown band called Ragged Glory. Home grown in that they got together as members of the well known Newtongrange club "Nitten Folk Club"

An area similar to Fife with a background of a coal producing area Newtongrange houses the famous mining museum. The club is held in the Dean Tavern which is a Goth and still runs on the Gothenburg principles. An ideal venue for a folk club and Nitten has hosted many of the most  famous Scottish and travelling folk performers.

"Our entrance into the world's biggest arts festival came four years after we met at Newtongrange Folk Club.
Our four-piece folk band, play traditional and contemporary material wel have also just completed our debut album called Quiet Joys.
Band member George Archibald, who hails from Newtongrange, said: "We are from different backgrounds, but we obviously share a passion for good music."
laying alongside the Nitten native are Aberdonian Charlie Milne and May and Jim Weatherston, who are from Edinburgh.
George added: "This year is our Fringe debut and it is sold out which is nice."
